Meet us at ICR 2026 in Aachen in September!

We are pleased to inform the community that FIRE is media partner of the 2026 ICR Conference that will take place on 16th and 17th September in Aachen, Germany.

The International Colloquium on Refractories ICR® is a world-renowned event held annually in the city of Aachen. Last year, they welcomed over 700 participants to the scientific conference and the accompanying trade fair.

This confirms the ICR®'s position as the leading annual event for the refractory industry worldwide and, at the same time, as a social event.

Against the backdrop of current geopolitical developments and their economic implications, ICR is pleased to present this year a special highlight featuring keynote speeches by Ansgar Baums and Matthias Stalzer on the topic of

“Resilience vs. Protection”

Now ICR is looking forward to meeting the refractories experts for purchasing/sales, raw materials and production, machine equipment and accessories, as well as the executives from research and development and the qualified young professionals from universities and institutes.

Of course, they also expect customers from the steel, cement or glass industry and from other sectors to be present, too. All participants will exchange knowledge and experience. They will make new contacts and cultivate their network.

Meet the FIRE representative at the FIRE booth!

Highlight of FIRE Alumni - Mathilda Derensy - Institute of Mineral Resources Engineering, RWTH Aachen University - Germany

My interest in refractories began during my engineering studies in ceramics at ENSCI Limoges, when I discovered that the refractory specialisation offered an international research experience through the FIRE program. I quickly realised that refractories are far more complex and fascinating than simple bricks.
