Federation for International Refractory Research and Education
Become Industrial Member
The membership is open to the refractory manufacturers (any company actively engaged in supplying raw materials, equipment and service), to their suppliers and to the refractory users (any company from the iron and steel, non-ferrous metal, glass, cement, chemical, power generation, environmental, petrochemical and ceramic industries).
In short, any company which shares interest in and supports the purpose of FIRE.
Applications to join FIRE are cordially invited; simply send a letter of intention to the secretariat.
FIRE member’s dues are set at 18 000 US dollars.
The organization is incorporated in Canada.
Funding is to come from three sources: 1/3 industry, ½ governmental agencies and 1/6 non-governmental organizations. The leverage for an industrial member is then 3 times the number of industrial partners there is, for each dollar invested.

From one network to another
I discovered the world of ceramics when I arrived at the ENSCI (the national engineering school for industrial ceramics) in Limoges, France, in 2004. I quickly became fascinated by refractory materials: these discreet but essential ceramics, without which many of the materials we use today simply could not exist.
